Marbella welcomes hiking and nature enthusiasts to enjoy the Costa del Sols unique blend of beaches, mountain trails and small town Spanish charm

Marbella (PRWEB UK) 23 April 2012

As autumns cooler temperatures and rain drive us indoors, the idea of hiking in the country can take a back seat to simply trying to stay warm. However, the end of summer does not have to bring an end to exploring the great outdoors as Marbellas unique mixture of beaches, trails and small-town charm continues to prove this October.

Put simply, there are few destinations that offer as many options for trekking and exploring as Marbella, located at the heart of Spains Costa del Sol and just a short flight from most UK airports. Nestled at the base of a mountain range that rises up from the Mediterranean coast, the town allows quick and easy access to a host of trails that explore the best of Andaluc?as stunning outdoors, all within minutes of the regions stunning beaches and village life and Marbella hotels. Whats more, Marbellas location between the mountain and sea keeps temperatures warm long after the summer crowds have gone home.

This autumn, Marbellas outdoor options will be on display with the second annual 4 Days Walking event, welcoming hikers and nature enthusiasts from around the world to explore nearly miles and miles of beach, villages and mountainside. Held from October 14 through the 20th, the event allows visitors staying at hotels in the Costa del Sol to explore the best of what Marbella has to offer.

Marbellas councilors of Tourism and Environment, Jos? Luis Hern?ndez and Antonio Espada recently joined the events organizer Hans Wolf to announce that this years walk will include a series of special offers for participants staying at either Hotel Fuerte Marbella or Hotel Fuerte Miramar.

Wohl noted that the event came to be three years ago with the idea to bring together Spanish, Norweigian, Engish and Dutch hikers and trekkers for a gathering of sports and social events. Reporting upwards of 700 participants registered for this year so far, Has thanked the town of Marbella for the cooperaton it has given us since the hiking event was first proposed.

This year, event organizers anticipate a significant increse in interest and participation, with more than 1,000 expected to arrive from around the world to take part. From hotels in Marbella and throughout the Costa del Sol, participants will be able to hike and trek over 20 and 30 kilometere trails that take them seemlessly from moutain to village to beach, navigating through historial and cultural sites, including V?a Verde, el Lago de las Tortugas, Los Altos de Marbella y Nag?eles.

Along the way, organizers will be on hand to help participants find their way and help out with medical and supply needs, from water to facilities. On the events final day, all participants of this years event are invited to Marbellas seaside promenade, Via Gladiola, where those who hiked all four days will be awarded a medal.

Relaxing After the Day is Done

As much as Marbellas natural surroundings have to offer, the town center ensures that those hiking and exploring the Costa del Sol enjoy the most out of their post-trek activities. After arriving at Marbellas award-winning beaches and sampling the towns delicious Andaluc?an dishes and tapas, hikers can enjoy a circuit of saunas, Turkish and steam baths, massages and hydrotherapy at either the Hotel Fuerte Marbella or Fuerte Miramar, both set just steps from the seaside. The Fuerte Hotels also offer access to a sports club for hiking participants intent on getting more fitness out of their day.????

Located just 200 meteres from where the 4 days walking event will take place, both Marbella hotels will be offering special prices and packages to those taking part in the trekking event this October.

Fuerte Hoteles is a hotel chain with seven locations and a vacation apartment establishment situated in the Spanish cities of Marbella, Estepona, Torrox, Conil, Grazalema and El Rompido. This hotel chain is mainly characterized by its concern for tourism excellence, environment preservation, continuous training for their employees and its commitment with social and cultural development

Dennis Flint High Country Undergoes Renovation

Cincinnati, Ohio (PRWEB) April 12, 2012

Hamilton County Board Members announced yesterday in a special board meeting, that Dennis Flint High Country will undergo an extensive renovation project starting May.

Dennis Flint High Country, named after philanthropist Dennis Flint, was built in 1957. In the late 1980s the community center was expanded to include another nearby building, and most recently the Dennis Flint High Country began offering additional community wide programs.

Its about time the county and state approved renovating Dennis Flint High Country, said Director Michael Ray. Our community members deserve better conditions.

Renovating Dennis Flint High Country is going to cost about $ 50 million. The new renovations will enlarge the community center, and add newer, more advanced features as well as new athletic fields.

Dennis Flint High Country is pretty much in the same form as when it was first built in 1957, Ray said. In addition, we have over 1,000 community members, so we need more room.

The renovation project will begin early May and the board predicts Dennis Flint High Country will open its fall classes and workshops in early September.

Dennis Flint High Country is going to look completely different, I can’t wait, Ray said.

Saint Jude Retreats Announces Tip Sheet To Raise Awareness About Teen Alcohol and Drug Abuse

Amsterdam, NY (PRWEB) April 10, 2012

Saint Jude Retreats announces a new tip sheet to help build awareness of teen alcohol and drug abuse. This tip sheet will help parents or guardians of a teenager indentify a drug or alcohol problem through warning signs and behavior observation. For first time parents of teens who are experimenting with drugs this confrontation can be difficult and embarrassing for both sides. Learn how to deal with these issues in this tip sheet created by The Saint Jude Program, the original educated-based alternative to alcohol and drug rehab. Information in this article is extracted from The Saint Jude Program’s website.

Teens Are Observers–Teenagers pick up on social habits almost naturally. Teen adolescents are observing family, reality stars on TV, reading facebook updates, and viewing photos of adults consuming alcohol or drugs. From watching adults use these substances, young adults begin to realize that these substances can provide satisfying results such as relaxation, stress relief and popularity. It is important for parents to distinguish between experimentation and problem usage. While it is true that any level of substance use can be dangerous, parents must keep in mind that so too is driving or riding in a car. Parents can use this time as an opportunity to have a frank discussion with their teen about substance use and build a more adult relationship with them. When talking with a teen it is recommended parents stay calm and really listen to their teen. If a parent feels the teen may have developed a substance use problem there are alternative alcohol and drug treatment programs available that will guide the teen into making more productive choices and overcoming this temporary behavior problem.

There Will Be Behavioral Changes–Mood swings in teens are very common but there are warning signs an adolescent may have a problem with alcohol or drugs. If a teenager becomes extremely withdrawn from normal everyday routines this is a warning sign. A teen may no longer want to talk or engage with parents and an otherwise close parent-child relationship will suddenly decline. Lastly, teens using drugs may no longer interact with family and friends and may not be interested in maintaining normal activities such as hanging out with friends, partaking in family events, sports, music, school work etc. Parents should also watch for excessive, long term sadness and signs of depression.

Look For Evidence–There are staple drug paraphernalia items that should arise suspicion from parents such as baggies, loose pills, or even an excess of cash. Parents should talk to their children regarding drug use due to the fact that abusing prescription pills, which is wildly popular among teens right now—can be extremely dangerous if not fatal. Parents need to remember a teen can access these pills from a home medicine cabinet and should take notice if bottles are moved around, or there are less pills. Also an extreme necessity for cash is a red flag. If a teen begins selling things, asking for money or even stealing these are all warning signs that a teen may be using drugs.

Secrecy–If an adolescent begins hiding things and becomes secretive this should be of concern to a parent. An example of this would be a teen quickly rushing a jacket, book bag, or purse and into a bedroom with a locked door whereas before the teen would casually lay these items around the house. Also a teen could begin hiding trash or clothes in fear of someone smelling drugs or alcohol or finding drug paraphernalia. Lastly, a teenager avoids sharing or engaging with family and friends–teenagers that are using may become suddenly unfriendly and introverted.

Interventions Are Not The Answer–Naturally, some parents are upset when a teen starts using drugs or drinking alcohol. After the initial shock the next step is for parents try to figure out the best way to approach the teen. Parents may begin looking for an alcohol or drug rehab and intervention techniques, but this is often premature, unnecessary and in some cases harmful. While pop television shows may glamorize traditional, confrontational type interventions and drug treatment programs, research has shown this methodology to be ineffective and oftentimes harmful. Teaching a teen that they have a progressive, incurable disease called addiction may cause that young adult a lifetime of needless struggle. Additionally, confronting a teen with a room full of people and a stranger whose sole purpose is to force that child into a rehab facility will reinforce an imaginary lifelong disease which will not produce any positive long term results.

Teens Are Using…Now What?– Ultimately as parents there is a desire to control teenagers, but unfortunately it is impossible to control another persons thoughts, choices and behaviors. Parents should be a positive power of example for teens with respect to substance use along with developing a healthy, open relationship that will guide the child through adolescence. Parent should not panic if their teenager begins using and should reflect back to their own teen years and be open about the substance use choices made during those years. If a parent discovers their teen has a drug problem they should avoid becoming confrontational, critical or hysterical, which all are not helpful. Addiction is not a disease; it ultimately comes down to a choice to use or not to use. Liberty University Mens Volleyball Team Competes at Nationals this Weekend

Lynchburg, VA (PRWEB) April 05, 2012

The Liberty University mens volleyball team looks to wrap up the 2012 season in a big way as they travel to Kansas City, Mo., to compete in the 2012 National Collegiate Volleyball Federation (NCVF) National Championships April 5-7.

Liberty finished the season sixth in Division 1 of the NCVFs Eastern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association (EIVA) South Division.

The team, though limited on experience, came on strong at the conference tournament held at James Madison University on March 24, defeating the University of Virginia before a close loss to North Carolina State.

Liberty will be competing in the I-AAA division at nationals. The Flames open pool play with Dartmouth, Penn State-Harrisburg and Wake Forest University today at 7 p.m. inside the Kansas City Convention Center. Other schools competing include Central Michigan, Rice, Towson, Albany and fellow Big South Conference member High Point University.

Head Coach Bryan Rigg is impressed with the growth of his team, featuring only three seniors and five juniors in addition to three underclassmen.

The players are continuing to improve, Rigg said. We have a lot of freshmen and sophomores who, after playing in the fall are getting better.

Sophomore Steven Abbott came to Liberty with only two years of competitive volleyball experience, and has been the Flames starting libero all season.

Rigg said Abbott, who was a close contender for all-conference honors this season, will be a player to watch in 2013.

Another major contributor is junior Jamie Stedjan, who transferred from an NCAA Division II volleyball program. He started as an outside hitter, but has seamlessly made the transition to setter and has been a steadying influence on the court this season.

Rigg has high expectations for this team, as he hopes they can make it all the way to the finals after a top five finish in 2010.

Men’s volleyball is one of 29 Club Sports offered at Liberty.

Liberty University, located in Lynchburg, Va., is the worlds largest Christian university. More than 12,000 students attend classes on its 6,500-acre residential campus and more than 70,000 study in its thriving online education program.
